Every year, hundreds of film projects are shot in the city. According to the Annual Report of the Barcelona Film Commission, the Catalan capital hosted over 2,800 national and international productions in 2023. Catalonia is home to more than 23% of the film production companies in Spain, with many of them concentrated in Barcelona. Furthermore, Catalonia accounted for over 47% of all film exhibition screenings nationwide in 2022, with the majority being in Barcelona.
